Hazy Shade of Winter

When most everyone is enjoying the snow and bone-chiling weather that winter brings, Texans typically enjoying balmy weather.  December tends to bring our coldest temperatures; however, Bryan always says that January is colder.

November/December was exceptionally cold in 2013.  While this was annoying, it did provide the opportunity to bring out the out cold weather cover-ups for Sarah Amelia 🙂  Bryan had forgotten that Rachel had a cute snow suit, so he bought Sarah Amelia another one (Sarah is wearing Rachel’s on the right).

Rachel is not a big fan of bulky/long sleeved shirts. Actually, she seems to hate long-sleeved anything. The “it’s not that cold outside if I wear my big coat” is a constant excuse for wearing summertime shirts to school.  Anyway, the recent drop in temperatures requires long sleeves and a coat 🙂

When we were in Kentucky for Thanksgiving, we once again had the opportunity to bring out the winter gear.  It was fun for a few days, but I was happy that we could leave the snow behind.

It actually was pretty fun to go walking around in the snow with Rachel at Mom and Dad’s house.  There was maybe an inch of very wet snow, but that was ok.  As Rachel likes to say – “snow is snow!”  (says the girl that has seen real snow about 3 times in her life)

  1. And be glad you’re not in Chicago. We are lucky to get a high in the 20s lately – much colder with windchill. Rachel would love all the snow, though! Love the pictures! The girls are so cute!

  2. Well, Ruth, here in Kentucky it is still winter…19 degrees chill factor tonight with snow coming down! Not expecting much snow to stick however, so that’s good. Very cold tomorrow.
Love your Blog….the pictures are adorable.
    Love, Aunt Aileen
