Sarah Amelia is 3!!!!! \u00a0Wow – it seems like yesterday that she was a baby! \u00a0How did time go so quickly! \u00a0\u00a0Bryan and I are convinced that she went from being a baby to a pre-schooler overnight! Her birthday was on a weekday, so we had some cake and treats after everyone had dinner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even though we had cake and ice cream on her actual birthday and sent cupcakes to her class at the daycare, I had to throw Sarah Amelia a “real” birthday party. Her\u00a0birthday overlaps\u00a0the start of rodeo season, so we thought it would be cute to have a rodeo-themed party. I was worried that it might not be girly enough, but I realized my 3-year old daughter wouldn’t know the difference. \u00a0Bryan and I were ready for a little break in\u00a0the princess action anyway…<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I lost a week in February. \u00a0It’s hard to say how I lost track of the calendar. \u00a0Maybe it\u00a0was due to multiple rounds of sickness that passed from family member to family member, or my grant that was due, or the weather\u00a0–\u00a0who knows?!?!?! \u00a0I knew that Sarah’s birthday was at the end of February, but I kept thinking that I had more time to plan. \u00a0Fortunately, I was able to book a couple of ponies for the party. \u00a0They were really cute – one was pink and the other purple. \u00a0(Bryan told me that PETA would not be happy.) \u00a0Most of the kids really liked the ponies. \u00a0Sarah loved riding the ponies! \u00a0She said the “purple” one was her favorite, but then she said the “pink” one was her favorite. A girl can change her mind \ud83d\ude42 The festivities were rounded out with\u00a0ballon art (by Rachel), stick horse races, pin-the-tail-on the donkey,\u00a0<\/span>pi\u00f1ata, and birthday cake. \u00a0Overall, I think it was a fun time! \u00a0 Below is a video of Sarah riding a pony. \u00a0The pony-handlers were impressed with Sarah’s balance and riding ability. They said she was a natural. \u00a0Maybe lack of fear would be a better descriptive? \u00a0I think she was having so much fun that she wasn’t afraid of the animals, which is really helpful. \u00a0 In the video you can hear one of the guys ask me if I rode horses. \u00a0I replied “yes, but I am from Kentucky”. \u00a0EVERYONE in Kentucky has ridden a pony\/horse in his or her lifetime, so I am not sure if I am special in that regard, LOL!<\/span><\/p>\n
