{"id":1567,"date":"2017-08-26T11:17:52","date_gmt":"2017-08-26T15:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.myhusbandandkids.com\/?p=1567"},"modified":"2017-08-26T11:20:11","modified_gmt":"2017-08-26T15:20:11","slug":"roll-with-it-baby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.myhusbandandkids.com\/?p=1567","title":{"rendered":"Roll With it Baby&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This has been a week, shew&#8230;..<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After spending last Sunday at a work related symposium, Bryan greeted me at the door with &#8220;Sarah has a fever&#8221;. \u00a0Great. \u00a0Just great. \u00a0Then I had the privilege that every mother just loves, being up all night with a vomiting kid. \u00a0On the bright side, Sarah has learned the art of vomiting into the toilet and not everywhere else (including down my shirt). \u00a0The next day was &#8220;eclipse day&#8221;, which I spent at home with Sarah and Rachel. \u00a0Rachel begged me to let her &#8220;chill out&#8221; on the last day before school started back, so I obliged. \u00a0Miriam, on the other hand, went to daycare to limit her exposure to Sarah&#8217;s stomach illness. \u00a0Poor little Sarah was too puny to do eclipse watching with Rachel. \u00a0After attempting to view the eclipse with a make-shift viewer, I decided to take Sarah to the doctor. \u00a0She tested positive for strep-throat, which the doctor thought also accounted for the nausea. \u00a0I knew about the association of vomiting with strep-throat, but I didn&#8217;t know diarrhea could accompany strep throat. \u00a0Whatever the case, she turned the corner the following day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tuesday was Rachel&#8217;s first day of middle school. \u00a0<strong>Yes, middle school<\/strong>! \u00a0Also, Miriam was scheduled for an appointment with a &#8220;food allergy expert&#8221; at the medical center. \u00a0 It&#8217;s a good thing Miriam doesn&#8217;t have lots of allergies, because she would have died waiting for an appointment with those folks. \u00a0Anyway, there was a lot going on! \u00a0I took Rachel to school, because she said it was tradition for me to take her to school on the first day. \u00a0This made my heart melt. \u00a0No time for sentiment though, because I had to shuffle Miriam to the coveted appointment. \u00a0Bryan didn&#8217;t have clinic, so he was able to stay with a recovering Sarah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I couldn&#8217;t believe how smoothly the day was going. \u00a0Rachel&#8217;s drop-off went well, and I made it to the doctor&#8217;s office with 40 minutes to spare. \u00a0That never happens. \u00a0After killing time on Facebook, Miriam and I went to the triage area for the allergy clinic and saw a display in honor of the &#8220;the boy in the bubble&#8221; (depicted by John Travolta in an unforgettable 1970&#8217;s movie). \u00a0I thought about taking pictures of the wall dedicated to him, but Miriam puked all over herself and me. \u00a0Lovely. \u00a0We continued on with the appointment, but as soon as the doctor walked in the room, filth started spewing from Miriam&#8217;s bottom like a busted sewer line. \u00a0The display reminded me of something you might see in a horror film right before an alien pops out of the victim&#8217;s body. \u00a0The diarrhea was so voluminous that the nurse threw towels in my direction to clean up the mess. \u00a0We were swiftly sent to urgent care clinic on a different floor. \u00a0The amount of liquid projecting from her was so profound that Miriam was given a hospital gown. \u00a0Enroute to the urgent care, we passed a guy dressed up as Ronald McDonald, who gave her a toy but she threw it in the floor. She&#8217;s decisive like that&#8230;. \u00a0Several hours later, we were sent home with Zofran and a negative strep test result.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1583\" style=\"width: 148px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myhusbandandkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_3585-e1503756955500.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1583\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1583\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myhusbandandkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_3585-e1503756955500-142x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"142\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.myhusbandandkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_3585-e1503756955500-142x300.jpg 142w, https:\/\/www.myhusbandandkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_3585-e1503756955500.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 142px) 100vw, 142px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1583\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">profuse vomiting and diarrhea couldn&#8217;t kick her spunk.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since Bryan was already home with Sarah (as mentioned above, she spent an extra day home to recover from strep\/stomach bug), he was able to watch Miriam while I picked up Rachel from school. \u00a0Because Rachel does gymnastics, an Olympic-sanctioned sport, she can do &#8220;off-campus PE&#8221;. This means that PE is scheduled as the last class of the day, and kids can leave campus during that time and receive PE credit for their training at the gym.
